Rural Food Festival


The Rural Food Festival was a platter of over 250 rural dishes from as far as Cuddalore and Gobi, pampering the taste buds of Chennaiites with some delicious authentic recipes like ragi adai, herbal idlis and rice, and different varieties of kanjis. The Festival was inaugurated by popular actress Manorama. A reputed cuisine enthusiast herself, she spent time talking to the villagers who had kept alive the recipes and procedures to make these various delicacies. At a time when as a culture, we are shifting to a narrow rice-based cuisine, reviving the traditional foods and sources of foods in the minds of the people was a big step in reinforcing the food security of the land.
